Founding Year: 2006
The Malta Golf Association was founded during a meeting held on the 16th of April 2006 taking over the responsibilities of the Malta Golf Federation. The Association acts as the governing body for (and as such promotes, administers and encourages) the sport of golf in the Maltese Islands and observes the Rules of Golf and the Rules of Amateur Status as laid down by the R&A of St. Andrews.
The Association is a non-profit organization run by golfers for the benefit of golfers with membership predominantly open to amateur golfers who are members of a golf club or golf society within the geographical area of the association irrespective of gender, colour and religion.
The Association is affiliated to the R&A; the International Golf Federation; the European Golf Association; CONGU; the Maltese Olympic Committee and the Malta Sports Council.
