Wörthersee: Velden & Pörtschach The Carinthian Wörthersee is a paradise for party and lifestyle lovers and a meeting point for bikers, hikers, and runners. The cherished city of Velden lies directly on the banks of the lake and sees more than its fair share of party-lovers and sun seekers due to its central casino and its sunny Café terraces and bars. While taking an evening stroll on the lake promenade in Pörtschach you would be forgiven for thinking you are on the Adriatic coast, rather than in Austria.

Pyramidenkogel The tallest wooden tower in the world with its brilliant viewing platform offers breath-taking panoramas and truly showcases the natural beauty of Carinthia. Top Tip: The 120 metre slide is the longest covered slide in Europe and is something you absolutely must try out!

Kärntner Kasnudeln (cheese Ravioli) This Carinthian speciality, a traditional kind of cheese ravioli, used to be the main fare on Fridays, a meat-less day according to Catholic tradition. The Kärtner Kasnudeln, which are mostly filled with curd cheese, potatoes and mint or chervil, have meanwhile found their way into the menus all over country.

The Lindwurm Fountain The Lindwurm dragon is said to have been slain by courageous men in the area of the Carinthian state capital, which made the area safe and fit for settling. The Lindwurm fountain on Neuer Platz in Klagenfurt not only shows the city’s heraldic animal, but is also the symbol of the Carinthian state capital. The fountain was commissioned by the city in 1583 on the orders of the Carinthian council. In 1636, a statue of Hercules was added to the ensemble.

Castle Hochosterwitz Castle Hochosterwitz, perched on top of 150m tall limestone cliffs, is located to the northeast of Klagenfurt. For over 450 years, the castle has been the possession to the Khevenhüller family. Now, in its 18th generation, the family are still doing everything they can to preserve the castle and to make it so attractive that each visit is an experience to remember. Top Tip: Feel like a true noble knight and indulge yourself at the knight’s feast in the castle restaurant

The “Green Heart” of Austria offers on the one hand fantastic mountain scenery and vineyards and on the other hand healthy thermal water and crystal-clear lakes that invite you to relax. In the cities, you can find historic cultural heritage alongside contemporary zeitgeist. In culinary terms, too, Styria entices with its „staple food” pumpkin seed oil, and so much more!

Clock Tower Graz What is wrong with the clock face of the Graz clock tower? If you look a little closer, you will see that time has a different value here. Hours count more than minutes, and rightly so, because the area under the clock tower is magical. If you let your gaze wander over the gardens and the city, then you will know why. From the city you can explore the Schlossberg on foot. A ride on the Graz fairy tale train is recommended for kids.

South Styrian Wine Road In the very south, on the border with Slovenia, there is a network of paths, roads and paths that leave plenty of space for your own discoveries with the promise culinary highlights. Numerous wine taverns can be found here on idyllic vineyard hikes, just like traditional farm shops and renowned winegrowers‘ hotels.

Red Bull Ring The focus of this “playground for the grown-ups” is: the legendary race track, the Red Bull Ring, which hosts national and international motorsport events and has a very special charm due to its location on the rock. Numerous other events and concerts also enjoy the great atmosphere here. You can also go hiking and climbing, fishing, horse riding, wellness retreating and of course golfing in the region!

Stift Admont In the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Gesäuse National Park, there’s Admont Abbey, an absolute highlight in Styria, not only because it contains the world’s largest monastery library. It also houses the Museums for Natural History and Art History as well as the Museum of Contemporary Art with its constantly changing special exhibitions and an interactive museum workshop for children.

Kunsthaus Graz The spectacular architecture of the Kunsthaus Graz cleverly fits into the traditional urban structure of Graz and houses the Museum for Contemporary Art. The Kunsthaus floats like a mysterious blue bubble between the roofs of the historic city centre and magically attracts visitors.
